Electrical properties of quartz glass
Quartz glass has high dielectric strength and low electrical conductivity loss. Even at high temperature, its conductivity and dielectric loss are lower than those of common materials. It is especially suitable for high frequency and voltage insulation materials under high temperature and high mechanical stress conditions.
At 20oC, the conductivity of transparent quartz glass is 10-17-10-16 w / m, and that of opaque quartz glass is 10-14-3.2 × 10-13 w / m, which is related to the purity of quartz glass.
At room temperature and 0-106 Hz frequency, the dielectric constant of transparent quartz glass is 3.70, and that of opaque quartz glass is 3.50. The dielectric constant increases slightly with the increase of temperature, and increases significantly after 450oC.
Dielectric loss the relationship between the dielectric loss of quartz glass and temperature is that the dielectric loss increases with the increase of temperature, especially when the temperature is above 350oC.
